Day 31

Noobie pre-lift in the snow at Snow Canyon UT
(
Snow Canyon is named after early Mormon settlers, Lorenzo and Erastus Snow)
It doesn't snow in this area often, maybe once every few years and it melts by midday.
I had to go out and play in the snow with him!
For more info on Snow Canyon Wikipedia has a great page

Day 30

The cell that held General Cornwallis after his surrender in Yorktown.
He didn't actually surrender himself, he appointed an underling to do so.

Day 29

Charcoal Kiln at Old Iron Town Ut.
Turns out they stack wood (usually the cedar and pinion pine around the area)
into the smelter and then close the openings (there's another up the wall
on the other side) and burn the wood to turn it into charcoal that they used
to smelt the iron. There used to be 2 but the other has since collapsed
If you want some more info this site is pretty good

Day 28

Anyone who knows me knows I abhor cameras and pictures
I relented on this one because he actually took it upside down
Personally I don't think he realized he was holding the camera
wrong, but I actually like the effect. and his eyes pop big time
that also makes it cool

Day 27

My friend Corey and a groovy house near Pinto Ut.
They have a few neat field implements.
Point a camera at Corey and he is all sorts of ready for his closeup.

Day 26

A swarm of postings, sorry I was sick most of the week

technically these weren't taken every day. missed a couple.

Day 25

Not a glamorous shot, I know.

Day 24

Not an image per se, just more of a feeling.
Apparently came down with something, not feelin so copacetic.

Day 23

It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my funday

It's just another manic Monday
--Manic Monday- The Bangles

I figured I spent so much time here I should show what I look at all day.

Day 22

Had a great time up in the mountains this weekend. Didn't take my
camera though, stuck with just my phone. Not bad though

Day 21

I wanted to play with the macro on my little point and shoot
not too bad it seems. This flower is quite small.

Day 20

Sorry, been a little slow adding to my blog.
Is this a UFO from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind?
Nope, just my router's lights. Thought they looked nifty.

Day 19

This was what greeted me on the way to work this morning
I noticed someone with a camera and had to look at what
she was taking a picture of. and Voila!

Day 18

A nifty statue of my father's
and a light I threw together a while back

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Day 17

School started this week. Poor kids, looks like torture. lol

"Do you remember when we were just kids and
cardboard boxes took us miles from what we would miss
school yard conversations taken to heart
and laughter took the place of everything we knew we were not
I want to break every clock, the hands of time would never move again
we could stay in this moment, for the rest of our lives"

Day 11

Anyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I hate pictures of me

when it comes to a camera pointed at me I present:
Self Portrait #1

Day 9

One Word:
Seriously?

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Day 8

Watching the days go by
Thinking bout the plans we made
The days turn into years
Funny how they fade away
Sometimes I think of those days
Sometimes I just hide away
Waiting on that 9:20 train
Waiting on a memory
Cinderella-- Heartbreak Station

Saturday, August 7, 2010

Day 7

How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light
Lifehouse- Storm

Friday, August 6, 2010

Day 6

The Valley: the one he loved
The tree: his final rest
The song: his favorite
The pain of his absence: ours to bear
We love you dad, we think of you daily

It's not specifically a picture I took today, but an image I combined today, I figured it counted. (click image to enlarge)

Day 5

The view from my office window.
Pretty, but mostly useless, except to tell me if it is day or night.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Day 4

My mantle in-progress
The real trick?
Finishing.
My father, very crafty and
woodworky.
Not so big on the finishing.
Hopefully I can take the former and add
the latter

Day 1

ME (Noobie) 365
Our home beneath the big red mountain...
Nestled at the base of the majestic cliffs of towering vermilion sandstone lies the community of Ivins.

Nowhere in the United States can so many reasons be found to relax and enjoy life as you will find here. Located in Southwestern Utah, next to the City of St. George and away from the busy I-15 corridor, you can still wander and hear the whispering solitude of the delicate desert. Here is the place for the rest of your life -- figuratively and literally.

Standing in one spot an unparalleled panorama unfolds: fifteen hundred foot red sandstone cliffs with white sandstone formations above, dark black lava flows, blue gray mountains, pink peaks of Zion National Park, gray green sage covered hills, brilliant desert flowers, peregrine falcons in flight, eagles soaring, coveys of quails, the scamper of cottontails, chirping crickets, buzzing bees.

Depending on the season, nature treats you to a bath of sun or rare and gentle snow, an evening breeze or a stiff wind moving in a thunder storm with billowing clouds and a dashing display of lightening, maybe soothing rains or a desert thundershower with cascading waterfalls.

All these are here in one place without turning except to see another spectacular display of nature's wonders."

Welcome to Noobie 365 my first attempt at chronicling a year in the life... of me.
