Day 65

Finally, some rain! I woke up and wandered into the kitchen to see this nifty light shining brightly in the dark. I wish I had taken the picture right then but I didn't think about it until I was rinsing my cereal bowl. But the clouds look amazing. I wish I could capture on film what my eye sees. sigh. perhaps with practice.

Day 63

Corey and I were on our way back from Barnes and Noble the other day when we saw some flames and Corey unerringly chose just the right road to get to them. We both had an instant of panic that maybe, just maybe it was the house as it was right in line with where the house is. Luckily, it was a couple blocks down and over.
Whew.
So anyway, we watched and were entertained by the fire dept as they arrived (we were first ones woo hoo) and ultimately fought it. A couple more flared up behind us as well, so it kept them kind of busy. All in all the fires were quite small but when the one started the flames were very high. The flames did die down a bit once the main canopy of the tree had burned, but at that point 2 others had ignited. Pretty cool actually.

Day 62

I really wanted to see these cows but they were set way back off the main drag
I didn't feel comfortable tromping up on their lawn to get a pic.
So, this is what we have...

One of my faves. It's for one of the wilderness programs for troubled youth and adults.
Love the backpack and the campfire.

Day 59

Gates Family, I believe, I rather like these, really well painted. These are number 3. The main sign says, Families are for "Heifer". This is a rhyming word-play on a tenet of the Mormon faith that death does not separate families that they last "forever"; into the afterlife.
